Rocky McElhaney Law Firm Raised the Most Money in Our History for Gallatin CARES!

This was our best year yet, y’all! Rocky McElhaney Law Firm raised the most money we’ve ever raised for Gallatin CARES. This year, we presented a check for $9427 to this amazing organization which does so much good in our community. Amid our fundraising campaign, Tennessee suffered a devastating tornado, which resulted in many homes and businesses being destroyed. The funds raised will enable Gallatin CARES to provide for those that have been affected the most. A giant THANK YOU goes out to everyone who donated money to Gallatin CARES this year.

This year’s fundraiser ran from December 1 to December 15, 2023. Rocky McElhaney Law Firm also participated in four days of service during the two week period before Thanksgiving. Our team members helped bag groceries, refill the shelves, and served almost 400 people this year. Every car that came through the line received a turkey, bags of bread/pastries, dairy products, and canned goods.

What is Gallatin CARES?

Gallatin CARES (Christian Association for the Relief of Economic Suffering) is a non-profit organization which “grew out of the vision of the Gallatin Ministerial Alliance to create a centralized place where our local people in need could come for assistance…. [It] exists to provide short-term relief and economic assistance to those in need in Gallatin and surrounding Sumner County.”

Gallatin CARES runs a food pantry, a thrift store, and a Shelter Protection Benevolence Fund. Any proceeds from the thrift store (which relies on donations) help fund the work of the group. Clothing that cannot be sold in the thrift store is sold to a third-party, and those proceeds fund the food pantry.

Gallatin CARES is able to purchase food for its pantry at a discounted price – far lower than what you might pay in a grocery store. This is why monetary donations are so critical: the more we collectively give, the more food the group can buy, and that means more people can get the nutritious food they need for themselves and their families.
