Diversity and Inclusion: Our Promise to You
Rocky McElhaney Law Firm doesn’t strive to be diverse. We just are. That’s because who you love, how you worship, what culture you were raised in, what kind of family you have or want to have, and what your abilities are make no difference to us. We care about who you are, not which “boxes” you fit. Since the very beginning, Rocky McElhaney and our team have had only two criteria for employment:
- We hire individuals that have passion for helping people and working hard for our clients; and
- We hire individuals whose education and life experience demonstrate that they’re good at doing just that.
More simply, we want the best – and we know that the best doesn’t come in a one-size-fits-all package.
When we focus on hiring talent with passion, skill, and knowledge, the potential for cultivating a diverse team is endless. Similarly, we know that disaster doesn’t discriminate. When you focus on helping all people in need, you will always have more work than you can handle. It’s because of strong-willed initiatives like these that the Rocky McElhaney Law Firm has been blessed with continuous growth and success over the span of more than a decade.
At Rocky McElhaney Law Firm, our diversity fills in the nooks and crannies and separates us from cookie-cutter law firms.
It helps us grow smarter and stronger and rise to new challenges.
It helps us reach injury victims from across the globe and forge life-changing relationships that we might not have otherwise.
We are Multi-Cultural and Multi-Ethnic
Since Rocky McElhaney founded the firm in 2006, we’ve welcomed some real game-changers to the fold who’ve have hailed from Iran, Egypt, Israel, Peru, France and across North America.
Our team is multi-lingual, multi-cultural, and multi-talented.
We are Inter-Faith
At Rocky McElhaney Law Firm, we are constantly growing – but we remain as family. That family atmosphere means we also enjoy the comforts of home: a safe space where friendly faces across the inter-faith spectrum can converge and work toward a common goal.
Rest assured, as a client or prospective employee you will find that same home here among our team.
If you took a current snapshot of our firm’s inter-faith composition you might find that we work side by side with vibrant and caring individuals who are practicing Jehovah's Witnesses, of the Jewish, Christian, Buddhist, Hindu, and Muslim faiths, and you might find some folks who don’t subscribe to any spiritual or religious doctrine at all. That’s just fine with us. Professionalism and respect for each other is all we ask and expect.
Not only does Rocky McElhaney Law Firm welcome everyone, but Rocky McElhaney goes above and beyond by making special accommodations for time off on days of service (which is a custom, not yet required by law), honors requests for time off from work on days of observance, prayer, and tradition, and the firm observes all federal religious holidays.
In our work, we collectively believe that believing in our clients and our mission is the highest priority. The fruits of this common core belief are the invaluable bonds we get to form with individuals from all walks of life.
We Support Individuals of All Abilities
We know that both employees and clients sometimes have special needs.
All of our buildings are ADA certified and comply with those regulations a design standard set forth by local, state and federal guidelines. Some of our buildings have elevators to accommodate individuals with barriers to mobility. Our conference rooms, offices, gathering areas, hallways, restrooms and parking lots are designed not only with basic accommodation in mind, but with helping those individuals function at their highest level.
We strive to be attentive to changing standards and adaptations needed to always accommodate our clients, employees, and vendors.
We Lead the Way in Maternity and Paternity Leave
Rocky McElhaney has always encouraged both the professional and personal growth of all of his employees. For many that means starting a family or growing a family while continuing to excel in a legal career at the firm.
On a global scale, the US still offers some of the lowest compensation packages across the board for maternity leave. Our court system is teaming with gender and pregnancy employment and discrimination lawsuits. But at the Rocky McElhaney Law Firm, we are continually raising the bar for the benefits offered to new parents, to help them make a smoother transition into parenthood and make a successful return to work.
Currently, Rocky McElhaney Law Firm offers a precedent-setting 16 weeks of maternity leave/paternity leave; 8 paid, 8 unpaid, as well as flex-time to be able to make all doctor’s appointments, check-ups and for help adjusting to life with a new addition.
We Honor our Servicemen and Women and Their Families
In 2015, Rocky McElhaney Law Firm received the Patriot Award from the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR). This is one of the highest commendations the organization awards, to thank employers for their continuous dedication to employees who serve in the Reserves or the Guard.
The Patriot Award reflects the efforts made to support Citizen Warriors through a wide range of measures, including flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for families and granting leaves of absence if needed. The award series was started in an effort by the Department of Defense to recognize the crucial role civilians play in “assist[ing] in the resolution of conflicts arising from an employee’s military commitment.”
We Help Our Community Come Together
We know that the diversity of our team helps us understand and navigate a rapidly-changing world. By learning more about each other, we have learned more about our communities, and have committed ourselves to helping people wherever and whenever we can.
Rocky McElhaney Law Firm has worked with Hendersonville Cares during their holiday food, clothing, and fund drives, and with CASA – Court Appointed Special Advocates – for Children. Our firm belongs to the Hendersonville Chamber of Commerce, and our team promotes justice for people from all walks of life through the Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association. Rocky himself is the President Elect of the TTLA, so you can rest assured that our commitment to that organization, and the population it strives to protect, is stronger than ever.
We also understand that times have been a little rough for families throughout Tennessee. That is why we work with the Nashville Bar Association Pro Bono Program, Inc., helping financially struggling individuals get the legal help they need.
